The ‘Hereditatem' series is a reflection on the physical and immaterial influences of a country upon a person. Each piece on this album is a journal entry documenting an individuals reaction to various parts of their culture. At times this reaction is visceral, at others it is cerebral, but mostly it is lament.

Everything is so QUICK! Speed, agility, wealth. Things to accomplish. Binge-resting, bargain-hunting.

Here we are, in the land of BOUNDLESS PLAINS. Space. What are we scared of? We are the strangers. Too self-centred to share.

ISOLATION. We are alone, yet surrounded by so many. We are rich. So terrifyingly rich. And yet are impoverished in ways we do not understand.

For some, the HEAT DEATH of the universe is an inevitability. Reductionism, consumerism, materialism. Attempts to make meaning.

Why do we make BROKEN/SYSTEMS? Please limit yourself. Be subject to the other. Go without. Create systems that bring life.

We live here beneath the SOUTHERN CROSS. It has been a symbol of faith. There are so many potholes and problems. And yet …

The title of this cassette is great, thought provoking and blackly comic bit of alliteration right there. The tracks themselves are no less intriguing either. My personal impression of these four string based improvised (I'm assuming) pieces is that of living sound that somehow escaped the confines of their respective instruments, instinctively and warily calling to someone recording their own noisy and fully independent emanations. Incredible display of control, discipline, and a deep knowledge of the resonant properties of stringed instruments. Virtuosic command of spectral variation, bow pressure, and the infinite distance between the bridge and the fingerboard.
